§ 01 — Philosophy
Creative philosophy.
AFiLmByVD is the independent practice of Chibundu Victor Chisom (Vickdance). Film direction, professional dance, visual effects and creative direction are treated as a single discipline rather than separate services. A film is choreographed before it is shot, and a movement is framed before it is performed.
The method is restrained: fewer shots, held longer; effects work built to disappear into the image; sound designed alongside the edit rather than after it. Commercial work is approached with the same attention as narrative work, on the belief that the audience does not distinguish between the two — only between what is considered and what is not.
§ 02 — Case Study
The Mr. Frodd's Heist.
Overview
A commercial brand film produced for Mr Frodd's Restaurant, structured as a short narrative rather than an advertisement. The restaurant is introduced through atmosphere, detail and pace, with visual effects and sound design carrying a sequence that a conventional food commercial would have handled with cuts and voiceover.

Creative brief
The brief asked for a restaurant advertisement. The response proposed a heist — a small, contained piece of mischief that gives the food a reason to be filmed and the audience a reason to stay. The requirement was that the brand read as premium without stating it, and that no frame rely on text to explain itself.
Visual storyboard
Developed during pre-production, this storyboard established the visual language, pacing and narrative structure of The Mr. Frodd's Heist before principal photography. It documents the evolution of the concept from initial visual planning to execution.
- 01Establishing
Exterior of the restaurant at dusk. Static wide, the room glowing behind glass. The city continues; the frame waits.
- 02Approach
Low tracking shot following the entrance. Movement is deliberate, the pace set by footsteps rather than cuts.
- 03The Kitchen
Close detail work — flame, steam, hands. Macro coverage treated as portraiture rather than product photography.
- 04The Heist
The turn. Pace tightens, effects work is introduced without announcing itself, and the commercial becomes narrative.
- 05Resolution
Return to the table. The brand mark arrives last, earned by the sequence rather than imposed on it.
