§ Introduction
Chibundu Victor Chisom, professionally known as Vickdance, is a Nigerian multidisciplinary artist working across Film Direction, Professional Dance and Visual Effects. He is the founder and principal of AFiLmByVD, an independent artistic practice dedicated to developing authored works that unite movement, cinema and digital image-making.
Working across screen and performance, his practice explores movement as a cinematic language, combining choreography, visual storytelling and visual effects to create works that exist between contemporary performance and film. Rather than treating these disciplines as separate careers, he develops them as interconnected forms of artistic expression, each informing the other through a shared interest in narrative, composition and human movement.
His work spans independent films, nationally recognised competitions, commercial commissions, visual effects projects and performance works, forming an evolving body of practice documented through the permanent archive of AFiLmByVD.
§ Early Life
Early Life.
Chibundu Victor Chisom developed an interest in movement and visual storytelling from an early age. Long before working with cameras or digital visual effects, dance became his first artistic language, offering a way to communicate emotion, rhythm and narrative without spoken dialogue.
This early relationship with movement continues to shape his practice today. Whether directing a film or designing visual effects, performance remains central to his creative process, influencing rhythm, composition, pacing and the relationship between the human body and cinematic space.
§ Professional Dance
Professional Dance.
In 2018, Chibundu began developing his professional dance practice, approaching choreography as a form of storytelling rather than entertainment alone. His performances combined technical movement with theatrical expression, building a distinctive artistic voice that attracted national attention and collaborations with brands, artists and creative organisations.
As his work developed, he founded Brothers in Arm (BIA), a professional performance collective created to explore storytelling through choreography, movement and contemporary dance. Under his artistic leadership, the collective participated in De9jaSpirit Talent Hunt Season 2, a nationally televised competition broadcast across Nigeria.
The competition represented an important stage in the development of his practice, demonstrating sustained artistic collaboration, creative leadership and movement-based storytelling before a national television audience.

§ Engineering and Creative Practice
Engineering and Creative Practice.
Alongside his artistic career, Chibundu completed a Bachelor of Engineering (B.Eng.) in Agricultural and Bio-Resources Engineering at Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike.
Although engineering and art are often viewed as separate disciplines, his education continues to influence the way he develops creative work. Engineering introduced a disciplined approach to structure, systems thinking and technical problem-solving, qualities that now inform every stage of his filmmaking and visual effects process.
Rather than existing separately, engineering provides the analytical framework supporting an increasingly ambitious artistic practice.
§ Film Direction & Visual Effects
Film Direction & Visual Effects.
As his artistic practice evolved, choreography naturally expanded into filmmaking.
The understanding of rhythm, movement and performance developed through dance became the foundation for directing films, while visual effects introduced new ways of extending movement beyond physical performance.
Today, Chibundu combines Film Direction, Visual Effects and cinematic storytelling within a single creative process. His work frequently integrates live performance with CGI, compositing and digital environments, producing films that balance technical precision with artistic expression.
This multidisciplinary approach has led to independent projects, commercial commissions and nationally recognised creative competitions, including winning the Mikano Changan Creators Challenge and becoming an official Mikano Motors Brand Ambassador.

§ AFiLmByVD
AFiLmByVD.
AFiLmByVD was founded as the independent artistic practice of Chibundu Victor Chisom.
Rather than functioning solely as a production company, the practice serves as a long-term body of authored work documenting the continuing development of Film Direction, Professional Dance and Visual Effects within one evolving archive.
Every project, whether an independent film, performance work, commercial commission or visual effects production, is approached as part of a larger artistic conversation rather than an isolated commission.
The archive exists to document not only completed works, but the evolution of a multidisciplinary artistic practice over time.
§ Artistic Philosophy
Every project begins with an idea rather than a medium.
Some ideas become films. Others become choreography. Others require visual effects or digital environments to exist fully. The discipline changes, but the intention remains constant: to create moving images that communicate through performance, composition and cinematic storytelling.
For Chibundu, dance, filmmaking and visual effects are not independent careers. They are interconnected artistic languages that expand one another, allowing each project to find the form best suited to its ideas.
